The Crescent Playgroup has been established for over 25 years.
We are a friendly well run professional playgroup.
The playgroup employs five staff members: Ruth Callan, Playgroup Manager, Margaret Miller and Julie Sutherland Practitioners,
Anne Bain and Diane McLean support Assistants.
Alongside the team two parent helpers support the Playgroup daily.
Our aim at playgroup is to provide a happy, safe, child centered, caring environment that is stimulating and challenging for children. We always involve parents/carers in the education of their children and value their contribution.
It is important to assess the individual needs of the children and help them progress. To do this we offer a varied and balanced curriculum covering the six areas of learning:

Our main aim is to always
ensure that the children are having lots of fun and that there is a lot
of laughter around.

Playleaders

The play leaders have a maximum of 28 children in their care every day supported by 2 parent helpers.
Ruth Callan the Playgroup Manager has an SPA and an HNC in Childcare and Education. She has additional training in First Aid, Child Protection and Infection Control. Ruth is currently studying for her Professional Development Award in Childcare at Jewel and Esk College. Margaret Miller is qualified to SVQ Level II and Level III and also has additional training in First Aid, Moving and Handling and Child Protection. Julie Sutherland is working towards her SVQ Level III. Anne Bain is qualified to SPA level in Childcare she also has additional training in First Aid, Infection Control, Food Hygiene and Child protection. Diane is currently undertaking local training.
